New Delhi: A BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh, Nand Kishore Gurjar, has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to upgrade Bollywood actress Kangna Ranaut’s security to the Z-plus category.
Claiming there was a serious threat to Kangana’s life, the legislator from Loni assembly seat in UP’s Ghaziabad district alleged that the actress’ office in Mumbai was demolished by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on the instructions of mafia don Dawood Ibrahim. The MLA, however, did not substantiate his allegation.
Gurjar also urged the home minister to dismiss the Uddhav Thackeray-led coalition government in Maharashtra for “illegally” demolishing Kangana’s office, Hindustan Times reported.
â
The BMC hasnât bothered to look into various illegal properties but has acted against Ranaut,â the MLA said in his missive.
âI too have received threat calls from Pakistan and various Islamic countries ever since I raised my voice against streaming of a web series. There is a need to order a probe by NIA into the nexus Maharashtra government has with the underworld,â Gurjar said in his letter, which also referred to Uddhav Thackeray as a âdummyâ chief minister.
Kangana was provided Y-plus category security cover by the Centre on the recommendation of the Himachal Pradesh government after the actress, who hails from Mandi in the state, claimed that she had been threatened by Shiv Sena of physical harm when she returned to Mumbai.
The theory of underworldâs involvement in Kangana case gained ground following alleged threatening calls made to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
The BJP MLAâs letter highlights the political divide over Kangana Ranautâs public statements, including the one likening Mumbai to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, which has pitched Uddhav Thackerayâs Shiv Sena and the Maharasthra Congress against her.
The coalition partners in the stateâs Maha Vikas Aghadi government have alleged that Kangana is being used as a proxy by the BJP to defame Mumbai police.
