Bhubaneswar: Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning and squally winds (40-50 kmph) may occur in Odisha on May 13-14, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Monday.
Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely in the state on May 13, it added.
The weather agency has issued yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and heavy rainfall at one or two places in Keonjhar, Angul, and Dhenkanal districts. Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower is also at many places in coastal, South Interior Odisha and at a few places in remaining districts of the state.
On May 14, there is a yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph for one or two places in Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Nayagarh.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower may also occur at a few places in South Odisha and at one or two places in North Odisha.
The IMD has warned of thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur during the subsequent 24 hours.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower may also occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur.
While there are no further weather warning, light to moderate rain may continue at a few places in South Odisha during the next two days.
The MeT office further said that the day temperature in the Odisha may rise by 2-4 degree Celsius after 3 days.
