Bhubaneswar: The day temperature touched 39 degree Celsius on Tuesday even before the onset of summer in Odisha.
According to data shared by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a total of nine places recorded 37 degree Celsius and above. Jharsuguda was the hotted at 39ºC, followed by Boudh (38.5ºC), Malkangiri (38.4ºC), Angul (37.9ºC), Sambalpur (37.8ºC), Parlakhemundi (37.8ºC), Balangir (37.5ºC), Hirakud (37.1ºC)
and Titlagarh (37ºC), with the mercury level picking up.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 36.4ºC and 34.6ºC respectively.
While dry weather conditions may continue to prevail in the state, the weather agency has forecast no large change in the maximum and minimum temperatures during the next 4-5 days.
According to the seasonal forecast, the maximum temperature in the state, especially in western Odisha districts of Nuapada, Balangir, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Sundargarh, is likely to remain above normal in March, April and May.
