Day Temp To Rise In Odisha From Today, Yellow Alert Issued For Thunderstorms

Bhubaneswar: The day temperature is likely to rise by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius at many places in Odisha for a couple of days from Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The MeT office, however, has not issued any heatwave warning for the state due to the apparent possibility of thunderstorms in some pockets. “The day temperature will continue to rise with chances of thunderstorms only at isolated places in a few districts for the next two days. Thereafter, north Odisha pockets may see a little increase in thunderstorm activities,” head of regional IMD centre HR Biswas told TOI.

Notably, Boudh recorded the day’s highest temperature in the state at 43 degrees Celsius on Friday followed by Sonepur at 42.8 degrees C.

Yellow warning for thunderstorm has been issued for May 23 and May 24.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

MAY 24

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khurda and Puri.

Some places in the state will continue to experience rainfall activities till May 25.
