Baripada: In a daring board daylight heist, robbers decamped with Rs 27 lakh by threatening the staff of SBI’s Bahalda branch in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Thursday.
According to sources, five masked miscreants came in two motorcycles at around 10.15 am. Three among them entered the bank with two guarding the entrance. One of them pulled out a gun and started threatening the employees of the bank. They also assaulted the bank manager and another employee, leaving them with head injuries, before looting the bank and fleeing with the money.
Around 20 customers were also at the bank at the time of the incident.
On being informed, police reached the spot and began an investigation along with a scientific team and dog squad. The available CCTV footage are being examined to identify and trace the looters.
The injured have to admitted to Baripada hospital, sources added.
