Ahmedabad: Imagine a ‘dead’ man walking into his own remembrance meet!
Yes, that is exactly what happened in Gujarat’s Mehsana recently.
This is the story of 43-year-old Brijesh Suthar, who went missing from his home in Naroda area on October 27.
His family desperately looked for him, but could not find him. They eventually filed a missing complaint with police.
A fortnight after Suthar’s disappearance, a body was found near Sabarmati bridge on November 10.
Members of his family were called to identify the body, which was in a decomposed state.
The physique of the corpse resembled that of Suthar, leading his family to believe that it was his only.
But they were proved wrong, much to their delight.
“We looked for him everywhere. His phone was switched off. Then police showed us a body, it was swollen, we misidentified it and performed the cremation,” said Suthar’s mother.
After the cremation, the family organised a prayer meet on Friday. Then, the unthinkable happened as Suthar walked in, much to everyone’s shock and amazement.
According to one of his relatives, Suthar was in depression.
Media reports said he was battling mental health problems and stress after incurring losses in financial investments.
Suthar’s reappearance has led to a different headache for the police, who are now probing whose body was cremated.
