Bhubaneswar: Some unidentified miscreants attacked a senior citizen and his family members at Kalarahanga in the Odisha capital on Monday.
The victim, Jatikant Behera, is the union leader of Paradip Dock and Construction organisation.
According to sources, eight unidentified miscreants barged into Behera’s house at around 3 am and tried to kill Jatikant Behera. When his family members opposed, the miscreants attacked and tied them with a rope.
“At around 3 am, eight miscreants entered our house forcefully and attacked my father. They tied him with a bed sheet and tried to kill him. Hearing him scream, I came down. They attacked me also. They fled after the scuffle. We do not know what their intention was. Police have started investigating into the matter,” said Jatikant’s son, Subashis Behera.
