Balangir: Police have begun investigation into the death of Susant Mishra, president of the Balangir District Students’ Congress, whose body was found hanging in his house at Biramunda village under Sadar police limits on Thursday morning.
While circumstantial evidence says Mishra has committed suicide, the exact cause of his death would be known after the post-mortem, police said.
Sources said the Sadar Police rushed to the village after the family members informed them about the incident.
During the preliminary investigation, police found a Scooty and an empty liquor bottle near the house of the victim. However, the manner in which the body was found hanging with one of the legs inside a silver bowl, has raised the suspicion.
The body was later taken to the district headquarters hospital for post-mortem. Sadar SDPO Rishikesh Tiwari is investigating the case.
While the family members have not given any further information to the police, the locals are in no mood to believe the suicide of Mishra as he was an active leader and had no enmity with anyone.
