Bhubaneswar: Nearly three weeks after Bharatiya Janata Party BJP) national vice-president Baijayant Panda received a death threat, a man has been apprehended from Bengaluru for allegedly committing the act.
According to sources, the Delhi police traced the caller to Bengaluru and arrested him. The accused was later brought to Delhi. This was stated in a press release issued by the office of the former MP on Saturday.
The Delhi police, which was investigating the matter, traced the call to a number in Bengaluru. Later, a team went there, arrested the caller and took him to Delhi for questioning, it said.
During the interrogation, the man admitted to making the call out of frustration and not out of any malicious intent.
After he gave a written confession with an apology and assurance not to repeat such actions, the office of the BJP National Vice President requested the Delhi police to release him.
“a member of Sri Jay Panda’s team had received a phone call conveying a death threat to Shri Panda. A complaint had been registered with Delhi Police who investigated the matter. The police traced the call to a number in Bengaluru, after which they sent a team, arrested the said person and brought him to Delhi for questioning. During interrogation, the person admitted that he had made the call out of frustration and not out of any malicious intent. He has given a written confession with an apology and assurance do not repeat such actions. Based on this, our office has decided not to press charges and requested the Delhi Police to release him.
