Cuttack: BJD’s Barabati-Cuttack MLA Debasish Samantaray on Thursday accused some BJP and Congress leaders of having links with gangster brothers-Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamant.
Accepting that he had attended a social event organised by D- brothers, the legislator stated that Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and some BJP and Congress leaders had also attended various political events of the gangster brothers on several occasions.
In his reaction over arrest of the suspended BJD corporator of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Ranjita Biswal, Samantaray said, “Ranjita is being questioned by police as per law. It will have no impact on the BJD.”
The elected representatives having criminal links are inappropriate in a democratic setup. However, no other BJD corporator is involved in the case, Samantaray added.
Ranjita was arrested for her alleged links with the gangster brothers. She was allegedly involved in supplying firearms in connection to the recent firing on Bijay Kumar Pal of Subhadrapur.
Sushant Dhalsamant, who has been lodged in Jharpara Special Jail, Bhubaneswar, had hired notorious criminal Mrutyunjaya Nayak alias Miku to eliminate Bijay after he denied paying extortion money.
However, Bijay had managed to escape the attack.
