Nuapada: Activists of the state unit of BJP on Saturday gheraoed the office of Nuapada district collector demanding that the district be declared drought-prone.
“It has been a longstanding demand of the locals, especially the farmers, who are facing acute water scarcity owing
to poor rainfall,” said BJP state unit president Basanta Panda, who led the protest.
The state government should also take proactive steps for providing interest-free loans to farmers, failing which the agitation would be intensified in the days to come, Panda added.
