Cuttack: Highly decomposed body of a doctor was recovered from a rented house in Chauliaganj area of Odisha’s Cuttack city on Sunday.
According to sources, police received information about foul smell emanating from the house and rushed to the spot. The body of the doctor, identified as Maladi Venkata Chandrashekhar, was found inside the house after it was opened by the police team.
The doctor was reportedly staying in the house on rent for the last around four years. The house was locked from inside for the last couple of days.
Chandrashekhar, who was reportedly posted at a community health centre (CHC) in Salipur of Cuttack district, was staying alone in the rented accommodation.
While the reason behind his death is yet to be ascertained, police have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances in which the doctor died. The body has been sent for postmortem and further investigation is in progress.
