Deep Depression: 3 Districts Of Odisha Receive Heavy Rainfall; Bhograi Records Over 220 MM

Bhubaneswar: Three districts of Odisha bore the brunt of deep depression that crossed Digha in West Bengal on Friday evening with Bhograin in Balasore district registering highest rainfall.

According to the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, several places of Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Kandhamal districts received more than 150 mm rainfall during the last 24 hours. Two places in Sambalpur and Kalahandi districts also recorded heavy rainfall on the impact of the deep depression.

Bhograi in Balasore registered the highest rainfall of 226 mm, followed by Phiringia in Kandhamal with 211 mm. Bhograi in Balasore received 226 mm rainfall, Phiringia in Kandhamal 211 mm, Nawana in Mayurbhanj 196.4 mm, Tikabali in Kandhamal 196 mm, Chakapad in Kandhamal 190 mm, Bahalda in Mayurbhanj 186 mm, Batagaon in Sambalpur 185.2 mm, Kusumi in Mayurbhanj 179 mm, Phulbani in Kandhamal 168.2 mm, Tiring in Mayurbhanj 165 mm, Udala in Mayurbhanj 164.6 mm, Junagarh in Kalahandi 161mm and Rajghat in Balasore 153 mm during the period.

Meanwhile, the deep depression lay centered about 220 km east-northeast of Jharsuguda on Saturday morning. It would continue to move west-northwestwards across Jharkhand and adjoining north Odisha and north Chhattisgarh towards north Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours and weaken gradually, the IMD said.
