Bhubaneswar: The low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal may intensify into a depression and further into a deep depression, bringing heavy to very heavy rain to Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Tuesday.
“The low-pressure area over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman and Nicobar Islands persists over the same region at 8.30 am on Tuesday. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal on November 15. Thereafter, it would move northwestwards and may intensify into a deep depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast on November 16. Subsequently, it would recurve north-northeastwards and reach Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast on November 17.”
According to the weather agency, light to moderate rainfall will resume at a few places in coastal districts of Odisha on November 15 and the intensity of downpour will increase in the subsequent two days with isolated very heavy rainfall on November 16.
NOVEMBER 15
Light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur at a few places in Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and at one or two places in Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Cuttack.
NOVEMBER 16
Yellow warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for one or two places in Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Puri . Heavy rainfall also likely at one or two places in Ganjam, Khurda, Bhadrak , Cuttack, Jajpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh districts.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower may also occur at most places places in Ganjam, Puri, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh and at many places in Balasore, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur & at a few places in Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and at one or two places in remaining districts of Odisha.
NOVEMBER 17
Yellow warning of heavy rainfall issued for one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, and Kendrapada.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower may also occur at most places places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur and at many places in Kendrapada, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri and at a few places in Angul, Sundargarh, Deogarh and at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Ganjam, Boudh, and Kandhamal districts.
While there is no more rainfall warning, light to moderate rain will continue at some places, including South coastal districts, during the next three days, the MeT office said.

November 17: Squally weather (wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph) along and off Odisha, West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh coasts.
November 18: Squally weather (wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph) likely over Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal, along and off Odisha, West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh coasts.
Fishermen have been advised to return to the coast by November 14 night and not to venture into the sea on these dates.
