Bhubaneswar: The Deep Depression over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha remained practically stationary, moving northwestwards with a speed of 7 kmph during the last six hours on Thursday.
According to bulletin issued by the IMD at 8.30 am on September 24, the system lay centred over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha near latitude 18.5°N and longitude 83.5°E, about 70 km west-northwest of Kalingapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, 80 km south-southeast of Rayagada, 90 km east-southeast of Koraput and 170 km east-southeast of Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh.
The weather system is likely to move north-north-westwards and weaken gradually into a Depression around the evening of Thursday, September 24.
Thereafter, it is very likely to continue to move north-north-westwards and weaken gradually during the subsequent 24 hours.
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall has already been recorded in several parts of south Odisha, with Koraput’s Semiliguda receiving 193.9 mm in the last 24 hours.
