Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre here has forecast thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rain at one or two in Sundargarh, Bargarh and Dhenkanal till 2.30 pm on Wednesday.

Similar weather condition will continue to prevail in Kendrapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Puri, Kandhamal, Boudh, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack ( including Cuttack city), Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city ), Jajpur, Sonepur, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Angul, Sambalpur, Nayagarh and Ganjam.

Sudhakar Mallick, the Duty Officer at the Centre, informed that the deep depression had weakened into depression over western parts of Telangana and the system will now have no more impact on Odisha.

“Except for five districts of south coastal Odisha, which will continue to receive rainfall under the influence of the system, the weather will remain dry in the rest parts of the state. The sky will clear up in the next five days,” he said.

Fishermen can venture into the sea as there is no cautionary warning signal for the ports in the state, he added.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier informed that the depression over Telangana moved further west-northwestwards with a speed of 25 kmph during past six hours and lay centred at 5.30 am, over western parts of Telangana near latitude 17.7°N and longitude 78.1°E, about 130 km east-northeast of Gulbarga (North Interior Karnataka) and about 50 km west of Hyderabad (Telangana). It is very likely to move further west-northwestwards and gradually weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area during next 12 hours.
