Mumbai: Amid the ongoing debate over 8-hour work shift, filmmaker Suneel Darshan opined that the demand of fixed working hours in the film industry is ‘unreal.’
In an interview with the IANS, Darshan stated that filmmakers must ask the actors to give an assurance in writing that they will be giving shots continuously if they work for just 8 hours.
“The producer should first take from her in writing that for the 8 hours she is on the set, she will be giving shots. Instead of 8 if she even gives shots for 4 hours, the producer will touch her feet in gratitude,” he said.
Calling Deepika’s demand “unreal”, Darshan added, “I believe one should work only with those people who love your film more than you.”
Warning Deepika that she is not irreplaceable, the filmmaker said, “There was a time when Deepika was not a part of the industry. You will be able to find several new talents.”
For the unversed, the controversy around 8-hour work shift started after Deepika’s exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Spirit’, apparently because of her fixed work-hour demand.
Addressing the controversy during an interview with Mojo Story, actress Rashmika Mandanna said earlier, “Today, the whole country is debating about flexible hours, but that is for discussion amongst the teams and figuring out what works for them. It’s their personal choices.”
