Mahendra Singh Dhoni will have to start making payments of outstanding amounts of Amrapali housing project within 15 days.
A Supreme Court-appointed receiver has issued such a direction to over 1,800 defaulters who acquired property in now-defunct Amrapali projects, in Noida.
Allotment of flats booked by these buyers will be “automatically cancelled” if the owners fail to register their names in Customer Data maintained by the court receiver and start making payment within 15 days from the public notice issued on Thursday.
Amrapali Stalled Projects Investment Reconstruction Establishment (ASPIRE), which has been formed to complete stalled projects in Noida and Greater Noida, published the notice through an advertisement in a newspaper.
After the Supreme Court took over affairs of Amrapali projects, all buyers were asked to register details and make balance payments. NBCC has been entrusted with the job of completing construction of more than 20 housing projects with an estimated investment of over Rs 8,000 crore under a court-appointed committee’s monitoring.
The latest notice is for those who have not abided by the July 2019 judgement of the Supreme Court.
According to the notice, former Team India captain Dhoni has booked two flats — C-P5 and C-P6 — in Sapphire Phase-I, in Sector 45 Noida.
Homebuyers named in the list have not provided their data online through Office of Receiver’s website receiveramrapali.in and also not paid any amount of outstanding dues in UCO Bank (up to August 17) as reported to the court.
“Consequently, they are to be treated as defaulters and their units are liable to be cancelled,” the notice said.
The former Team India captain had, in April 2016, resigned as brand ambassador of Amrapali, which is now defunct.
