Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday that his government will give weapons to anyone who wants to defend the country against Russian invasion.
Zelensky, after announcing that Ukraine’s diplomatic ties with Russia are being cut off, urged Ukrainians to be ready to support the country.
“We will give weapons to anyone who wants to defend the country. Be ready to support Ukraine in the squares of our cities,” the President said in an address to the nation.

This follows Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of a military operation in eastern Ukraine. Clashes between the two countries’ militaries escalated immediately.
Ukraine claimed that its army has killed ‘around 50 Russian occupiers’, while more than 40 of their soldiers have died so far and dozens wounded in Russian attacks.
