Kyiv: When Russia announced it would launch military operations against Ukraine on February 24, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed to defend his country in every way possible.
It’s been five days since Vladimir Putin ordered his forces to enter Ukraine, and though civilians and armypersons continue to be killed in the conflict, Zelensky’s men are defending bravely.
They have been employing various measures and tactics to keep Russian forces at bay. A video of an Ukrainian blowing up a bridge and sacrificing his life to stop Russians went viral three days ago.
Another common ploy being used to confuse and mislead Russians is to change the road signages.
Erasing messages showing directions and distances to different towns and cities, Ukrainians have replaced those with innovative (and abusive) messages to delay Russia’s march and also mock Russian ground units.
Ukrainian government-owned firm Ukravtodor stated on Facebook that dismantling road signs was the ‘number 1’ priority.
“The enemy has a pathetic connection, they don’t orientate the area. Let’s help them go straight to hell,” read the post’s English translation.
There was an edited photo of a standard road sign, with different directions reading – ‘Go f*** yourself’, ‘Go f*** yourself again’ and ‘Go f*** yourself back in Russia’.
