Bhubaneswar: With the summer setting in, the state government has decided to repair all the defunct tubewells in rural areas of the state on a war footing.
A decision in this regard was taken at an emergency meeting convened at state secretariat here on Tuesday.
“It has been decided to ensure supply of potable water through tankers to the areas experiencing water scarcity. Besides, the authorities of different schools have also been asked to keep water bottles ready in vehicles for carrying students to meet their water needs”, informed Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi following the meeting.
The meeting was attended by the secretaries of Health, Panchayati Raj, School and Mass Education Department, Odisha Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) and other government officials.
