Puri: After remaining on the chariots for two days, the Chaturdha Murti (four idols) of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Sudarshan were taken on Pahandi to the Adapa Mandap of the Gundicha Temple on Monday night.
The Pahandi of the four deities began at 6 pm after the servitors performed the Sandhya Dhoopa ritual. After removing the wooden horses, fixing the Charamala (ladder made of palm wood), Lord Sudarshan was taken on Goti Pahandi. The servitors later took Lord Balabhada, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath, in that order, to the Adapa Mandap.
Despite heavy downpour, devotees turned up in large numbers to witness the Pahandi of the Lords.
The temple will remain closed for four hours from 8 pm on Tuesday for the Banaka Lagi, a secret ritual of the sibling deities.
The devotees can savour Abhada (cooked food) of the Lords to be prepared in the Gundicha Temple from Tuesday.
