New Delhi: The Centre extended an olive branch to the Punjab farmers protesting against the three recent farm laws with their ‘Delhi Chalo’ march.

Requesting the farmers to move to the venue in Delhi allocated to them, Union Home Minister Amit Shah offered to hold talks with them before December 3, reported ANI.

“If farmers’ unions want to hold discussions before December 3, I want to assure you all that as soon as you shift your protest to the structured place, the government will hold talks to address your concerns the very next day,” Shah said.

The farmers, who began their march on Thursday, reached Delhi border at Singhu on GT Karnal Road the day after. Delhi Police allotted the Nirankari ground in Burari for their agitation, but since that venue can’t accommodate the thousands of farmers, they decided to stay put at Singhu and protest from there.

The Home Minister appealed to them to shift to Nirankari ground and stage their protest ‘peacefully.’ He said the common people of Delhi are facing inconvenience due to the assembly of such a high number of demonstrators in arterial routes.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar had, till Friday, called upon the farmers to return to their respective states. He said talks with farmers would be held on December 3.

But the Home Minister went a step forward to say the deliberations could be held even earlier, once the farmers move to the designated protest venue.
