Delhi CM Praises Odisha For Supplying Oxygen

Bhubaneswar: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday praised the Odisha government for supplying medical oxygen to meet the requirement of a number of leading hospitals there.

The city needs 700 tonnes of oxygen every day, Kejriwal said.

While some states have detained hundreds of Delhi-bound trucks carrying medical oxygen, the Odisha government has released truckloads of them. “In our increased quota, oxygen is scheduled to come from Odisha too. So it will take some time for oxygen to reach Delhi. We are making an effort to see if we can bring oxygen from there by air route,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has assured Kejriwal of complete support for transporting Oxygen to Delhi. A special officer has assigned the responsibility to expedite the process.

Kejriwal thanked the Centre for increasing the oxygen quota to 480 tonnes for the national capital and sought help from other states.

“We will win the battle against COVID-19 if all states join hands,” he said and assured his counterparts of all possible help in case of their need.

On Wednesday, Delhi saw 24,368 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 249 deaths. It had reported 28,395 fresh infections on Tuesday. The positivity rate is still very high at 31.28 per cent.
