New Delhi: Delhi Police claimed that the 30-year-old constable, Sandeep Malik, who was crushed to death by a speeding car in the wee hours of Sunday was chased, dragged and killed.
According to the police, two people in the car were drinking. Malik, who was patrolling the area in civilian clothes on his bike, objected to it leading to an altercation. Enraged by Malik’s objection, they chased and crushed him to death.
An FIR has been registered against two men charging them with murder of the police constable. One of the accused, identified as Rajnish, has been arrested. The police have seized the car. They found liquor bottles and packets of chips in the vehicle, news reports said.
However, some news reports claimed that this version does not align with the initial police diary entry, which mentions a liquor supplier, Jangra, as putting pressure on the constable to “get the work done.” The police have ruled out involvement of liquor mafia. They maintained that the attack was intentional. One of the two accused is engaged in property rental business while the other comes from a family who runs a grocery store.
