Bhubaneswar: Ollywood actress Varsha Priyadarshini has been summoned by Delhi’s Patiala House Court to appear before it on January 4, 2023 in connection with a casteist remark case.
The court has also asked Varsha’s mother Deepa Sahu and niece Ayushi Priyadarshini to appear on the date in connection with the case registered against them at the North Avenue police station in Delhi.
Notably, the actress and her relatives were accused of hurling casteist remarks against a staffer of her husband and BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty. Later, a case was registered against the trio on October 28, 2022 under Sections 3(1)(r) and 3(1)(s) of the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and Section 506 of the IPC.
On November 17, Devender Kumar Jangala, ASJ-05 of New Delhi District Patiala House Court, conducted a hearing in the case and took cognisance of the offence punishable under Sections 3(1)(r) and 3(1)(s) of the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and Section 506 of the IPC.
