New Delhi: There’s no respite for Arvind Kejriwal.
The Delhi chief minister, who has ignored multiple summons by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case, has now got the attention of Delhi Crime Branch.
Officers from the crime branch arrived at Kejriwal’s residence on Friday evening to serve him a notice related to his recent claim that the BJP was trying to poach seven AAP MLAs.
According to ANI, Delhi Police have asked Kejriwal to provide evidence supporting allegations that he has made.
Crime branch officials also went to Delhi minister Atishi’s house, but neither she nor Kejriwal was present.
In social media post last week, Kejriwal claimed that seven of his party MLAs were contacted by the BJP.
The saffron party had dismissed the allegation baseless and threatened to lodge a police complaint.
Now Delhi crime branch has taken up the case.
Kejriwal has been at loggerheads with the BJP for months on end.
He has skipped five ED summons till date, calling them unconstitutional.
Earlier on Friday, Kejriwal was part of AAP’s protest in the national Capital over the recent Chandigarh mayor’s election.
AAP alleged ‘cheating’ as BJP won the mayoral election after 8 AAP votes were ruled invalid by the presiding officer.
Kejriwal claimed that the Chandigarh mayor poll cheating was caught on camera.
“If they can indulge in such irregularities in the Chandigarh mayoral polls, imagine what they would be doing in Lok Sabha and assembly elections. They can sell the country for power but we will not allow them to do it. We have to save democracy and the country,” Kejriwal said.
