Udaipur: A family of four from Delhi allegedly left a luxury hotel in Udaipur without paying a bill of Rs 5.74 lakh after a 10-day stay, with the hotel management subsequently filing an FIR over the unpaid amount, according to a report by The Times of India (TOI).
The family, comprising Delhi resident Anurag Yadav, his wife and their two children, checked into The Oberoi Udaivilas on August 14 and stayed at the property until August 23. According to TOI, the family allegedly used various hotel services during their stay and left without settling the bill.
The hotel issued a bill of Rs 5.74 lakh on August 24. Yadav reportedly told the hotel staff at the time of checkout that the payment would be made by the travel agency that had arranged their stay. He said he was unable to pay the amount himself, according to the TOI report.
What does the hotel claim?
According to TOI, the hotel management said that a travel agency named Maker Baha Travel Agency had booked a room for the family through email on August 12.
The hotel reportedly told TOI that no discount, special arrangement or special payment terms had been offered at the time of the booking.
Following the alleged non-payment, the hotel registered an FIR at Ambamata Police Station in Udaipur. Police have begun investigating the matter, according to the report.

The Oberoi Udaivilas is among India’s most luxurious hotels and is located on the banks of Lake Pichola in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The property is spread across 50 acres and was built on 200-year-old hunting grounds of the Maharana of Mewar, according to an earlier Hindustan Times report.
The hotel also featured in the Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone-starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
The reported Rs 5.74 lakh bill covers the family’s 10-day stay and services at the luxury property. The dispute over who was responsible for settling the bill is now the subject of a police investigation, following the FIR filed by the hotel.
