Delhi Govt Launches Electric Vehicle Policy, To Create Jobs And Make The City Greener

New Delhi: In a bid to reduce pollution, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday launched the ‘Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy’ that waives registration fee and road tax, and provides an incentive of up to Rs 1.5 lakh for buyers of electric cars in the national capital.

Kejriwal calls the policy a “progressive” one that will help create jobs and make Delhi become greener.

Two-wheelers will get incentives up to Rs 30,000, while autos and e-rickshaws will get up to Rs 1.5 lakh, the CM added.

“After launching this policy, we expect 500,000 new electric vehicle in the next five years… The Delhi government will set up dedicated ‘EV Cell’ to implement ‘electric vehicle policy’,” Kejriwal elaborated.

The Delhi government will set up 200 charging stations in a year and also establish a ‘State Electric Vehicle Board’, Kejriwal informed.
