Delhi HC Allows Priya Kapur To Submit Sunjay Kapur’s Asset Details In Sealed Cover

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has allowed Priya Sachdev Kapur, widow of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, to submit a statement of assets in a sealed cover in the ongoing inheritance dispute, citing the need for confidentiality in handling sensitive financial documentation.

The case arises from a partition suit filed by Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira Kapur and Kiaan Raj Kapur, over their father’s estate. The dispute revolves around the distribution of Sunjay Kapur’s assets and the rights of the heirs.

The High Court directed that the details of Sunjay Kapur’s assets be submitted under seal and that the Will be placed in the custody of the Registrar General of the Delhi High Court. A copy of the Will is also to be shared with Rani Kapur, the late businessman’s mother, ensuring that key family members have access while maintaining confidentiality.

During the proceedings, Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar, representing Priya Kapur, emphasized the need to protect sensitive financial documents from public exposure. On the other hand, Mahesh Jethmalani, counsel for Karisma Kapoor’s children, opposed excessive secrecy, arguing that as heirs they must have full access to the claimed assets and cautioning that confidentiality should not be used to “fritter away the assets.”

Both sides’ counsels assured the court that the contents of the sealed documents would not be leaked to the media. The Delhi High Court’s order ensures that sensitive details of the inheritance remain confidential while allowing the legal process to proceed.
