New Delhi: In a shocking crime, a man killed his gym trainer son to teach his estranged wife a lesson, Delhi Police said.

Rang Lal, the 54-year-old accused, had a tense altercation with his 29-year-old son Gaurav on Wednesday night. Gaurav reportedly slapped his father, which angered Rang Lal so much that he stabbed the 29-year-old 15 times in the face and chest at their south Delhi home.

The father committed the crime because he wanted to make a point to his wife with whom he had a strained relationship. In fact, investigation revealed that he had been planning the murder for three-four months, and had even hired and paid three associates Rs 75,000.

To make the tragedy even worse, Gaurav was supposed to get married a few hours later.

Police arrived at 12.30 am to find Gaurav in a pool of blood and with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Rang Lal, who fled after murdering his son with gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh and Rs 15 lakh in cash, was later arrested in Jaipur.

“We searched CCTV footage and other details, confirming that he fled and his phone was switched off,” South Delhi DCP Ankit Chauhan told India Today.

“During interrogation, it was revealed that the father’s relationship with his wife and the son was not smooth and the father committed this murder to teach his wife a lesson. The accused showed no remorse and even said that he did the right thing,” Chauhan informed.

“He disclosed that he was unhappy with his son’s extravagant lifestyle and disobedience. He added that the deceased’s mother always supported his son, which contributed to his frustration,” the DCP Chauhan added.
