New Delhi: The Delhi-Mumbai greenfield expressway, touted to be one of the major infrastructure development projects in India, will be the first in the country to have animal bridges or animal overpasses.
The expressway, which is expected to be ready by 2024, will have 5 animal overpasses that are designed not to disturb the environment and wildlife sections that come up on the over 1,200 km long way.
The bridges will serve the wildife movement on Ranthambore Wildlife Corridor and Mukundra (Darrah) wildlife sanctuaries in Rajasthan among others.
Animal bridges will help avoid collisions between vehicles and animals.

– Ecoducts, The Netherlands
