New Delhi: Hours after Rahul Gandhi staged a dharna at Parliament Street police station, Delhi Police on Friday registered an FIR based on a complaint by 19-year-old Sahil Lochab, who allegedly suffered pellet injuries during the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) Jantar Mantar protest on July 20.
The Congress had claimed that police had earlier refused to register an FIR despite a written complaint by the student. Leader of Opposition Rahul accompanied the student to the police station and demanded that the case be registered.
Rahul and Sahil showed the FIR copy to mediapersons after Delhi Police registered it.
Rahul ended his six-hour dharna at the police station following registration of FIR.

“Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition, is on a dharna outside the DCP office, New Delhi, alleging that ‘Delhi Police refused to file FIR in the Pellet gun victim case’,” Congress said in a post on X.
The student, accompanied by his lawyers, had submitted a written complaint to Delhi Police on August 14. The matter was followed up on August 17 through email and phone calls, but no action was taken, Congress alleged.
The Congress further alleged that the police did not provide an acknowledgement or an I/O number for the complaint.
The FIR was registered the FIR under Sections 118 and 125 of BNS. No one has been named in the FIR.
