New Delhi: Delhi Police has intensified security across the Capital ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament and the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) planned march on July 20, with officials making it clear that no unauthorised movement towards the high-security zone will be allowed.
A senior police official said the force will not permit any unauthorised move towards the high-security area. The CJP has yet to secure permission for the march, while key entry points in New Delhi, Central Delhi and parts of North Delhi have been fortified with barricades, tighter surveillance, anti-sabotage checks and continuous patrolling, as reported by The Pioneer.
Tighter Ring
Police sources said on Sunday that additional officers have been deployed, barricades have been reinforced at multiple locations and vehicle checks have been tightened at all major entry points. Such precautions are routine during Parliament sessions, when the Capital typically sees a higher presence of groups and demonstrations.
A senior police officer said extensive precautionary arrangements have been made to maintain law and order during the Parliament session. All vehicles entering New Delhi district are being thoroughly screened, additional pickets have been placed at key locations and reserve forces kept ready, while CCTV surveillance has been strengthened across sensitive areas.
Hotspots Covered
Security has been stepped up around Jantar Mantar, Parliament Street, Central Vista, Connaught Place, Shankar Chowk and other key points, with authorities keeping a close watch on possible crowd movement and disruption.
The measures come in the wake of developments at Jantar Mantar, where CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke remains on an indefinite hunger strike. On Saturday, activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted by the Delhi Police to Safdarjung Hospital. From the hospital, Wangchuk called on supporters to join the July 20 march.
Police have reiterated that all protests must be held in accordance with the law and that no unauthorised gatherings will be permitted in high-security areas.

Authorities are monitoring the situation to prevent any escalation and have also arranged medical support, if required. Police said the arrangements are in place to preserve order and maintain security in the Capital.
