New Delhi: Ahead of the proposed agitation by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar from October 10, the Delhi Police has started urging people to stay away from trouble.
A video has now emerged of police making an announcement from a mosque in Old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk, urging people to avoid protests, stay away from provocative messages and cooperate with the authorities.
Delhi Police has confirmed the video, according to the information available. In the video, a police announcement can be heard urging people to act responsibly, follow the law and help maintain peace and security in their areas, as reported by timesnow.in.
The announcement also asks people not to participate in any protest or become part of a crowd. It further urges them not to obstruct the administration from carrying out its duties, warning that such actions could lead to untoward incidents or damage.
It also appeals to people to stay away from provocative messages and celebrations that could create trouble, cooperate with the police and administration, and take care of their families.
“An announcement from a mosque attracts attention in this part of the city. We don’t want common people to get in trouble, hence the announcement,” an official said.
The CJP has called for a gathering over allegations of irregularities in the election process.
