New Delhi: This is the Christmas season, a time for cheer and joy.
Unfortunately, the society’s perverted minds have not been touched by the Yuletide spirit as they continue with their barbaric acts, especially against women.
Two men, including a private bank employee, have been arrested for the gangrape of a 13-year-old girl near Samaypur Badli in outer Delhi.
Police identified the suspects as 28-year-old Narottam alias Neta, who runs a barber shop near his home in Raja Vihar and is known to the girl and her family, and 26-year-old Rishabh Jha, who works in a private bank and lives with his family in JJ camp.
According to police, th
e accused duo took the victim to Narottam’s residence, forced her to consume alcohol and then raped her.
After the girl managed to escape their clutches, she narrated her ordeal to her family.
The victim’s family then called police and told them she had been coerced into drinking alcohol. A subsequent statement by family members and investigation revealed that she had also been sexually assaulted as well.
Based on the detailed statement and the girl’s medical examination report, the two accused booked under BNS section 70 (gangrape) and section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Sunday.
Both accused have been arrested, deputy commissioner of police (outer-north) Hareshwar Swami said.
A special investigation team (SIT), set up under the supervision of DCP Swami, will complete the investigation and file chargesheet as soon as possible.
“The case is currently under further investigation to ensure a strong legal trial,” Delhi Police said in a statement.
