Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Nagarika Manch on Monday demanded inclusion of five more airports in the state under the UDAN-4 scheme.
Briefing the media in a joint press meet with the members of the Ama Janata Adhikar and Pune Odisha Yuva Manch here, convener of the Nagarika Manch Lalit Mohan Patnaik said that the Centre under the UDAN-4 scheme has begun construction of 100 new airports of which three are in Jeypore (Koraput), Rourkela (Sundargarh) and Utkela (Kalahandi).
Apart from these three airports, the Centre should set up five more airports at Rangeilunda near Berhampur, Paradip, Jajpur, Baripada and Konark under the scheme, he said.
Stating that the Manch has submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Union Civil Aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri through the Governor, Patnaik requested the Odisha government to urgently intervene and seriously take up the matter with the Centre.
