Rayagada: Demanding a permanent bench of Orissa High Court in western Odisha, Undivided Koraput District Joint Action Committee has called for a daylong bandh on December 18.
It will be observed in Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri districts.
Blockades and Rail Roko will be organised to press for the demand, informed committee members.
Similar stirs were earlier witnessed in Balangir and Sambalpur districts.
The Balangir Lawyers’ Association and Central Action Committee (CAC) observed a 24-hour bandh in Balangir on December 3. Government and private offices, educational institutions, market and business establishments had downed shutters owing toit.
Political leaders cutting across party lines, public and labour associations and social organisations had supported the strike.
The 48-hour ‘Maha Bandh’ on November 29 and 30 had affected life in Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur and Sundargarh districts. The CAC of All Western Odisha Bar Association (AWOBA) had called for the bandh over the permanent bench demand.
