Khurda: Cutting across party lines, leaders of different political parties came together on Tuesday to demand the construction of a flyover between Bhubaneswar and Khurda.
The leaders of BJD, BJP and Congress came together under the Khurda Nagarika Manch banner to demand a flyover from Totapalli to Pitapalli square.
Khurda MLA Jitu Mitra, Chilika MLA Prasant Jagdev and Khandapada MLA Soumyaranjan Patnaik along with Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi said they will all work unitedly for the cause of public convenience.
The NH-6 passing through Khurda has been dug up without planning which is leading to traffic congestion and trouble for commuters of the two major places.
Speaking at the protest site in front of the collector’s office, Patnaik said they were grateful to Sarangi for hearing the people’s plea and working on it within 24 hours.
NHAI Regional Officer, Ram Chandra Panda will conduct a feasibility study for flyover construction and a vehicle underpass at Gada Khurda square, said the Bhubaneswar MP.
Sarangi said the papers with the demands will be sent to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari by tomorrow while a copy has been sent to NHAI Regional Director.
“By April 12 a feasibility study will be conducted, beginning tomorrow, after which the report will be sent to Delhi office of the NHAI. We will then request Union Minister Gadkari to take a decision on it,” she added.
