Dengue toll rises to 4 with one more death at SCB

Cuttack: With one more patient succumbing to dengue at SCB Medical College and Hospital here on Wednesday, the death toll due to the vector-borne disease reached four in the state this year.

The deceased was identified as Gourirani Dey (73), a native of Dogara village under Baliapal police limits in Balasore district.

Dey was admitted to SCB on September 17. She was shifted to the ICU of the hospital the following day when her health condition deteriorated and died during the course of treatment, reports said.

The season’s first dengue death was reported on August 9 when Som Prakash Mishra (35) of Bihar died at SCB. A couple of days later, Harihar Mallick of Basudevpur in Bhadrak district died while undergoing treatment and Sanatan Nayak of Tangarapada village in Keonjhar succumbed to dengue at the hospital on August 26.
