New Delhi: Veteran Madhya Pradesh BJP leader Umashankar Gupta, 71, who was denied a ticket in the Assembly election, suffered a heart attack and was hospitalised on Monday afternoon. He is stable.
Gupta, a former MP home minister, Bhopal mayor and three-time MLA from Bhopal South West was hoping to be fielded from the same constituency. But BJP went with a fresh face, state general secretary Bhagwandas Sabnani, Times of India reported.
Chief of the state BJP media cell Ashish Agarwal stated, “The check-up found that Gupta ji has 100% blockage. He is now steady.”
Many of Gupta’s followers rushed to the hospital as soon as word of his heart attack spread. They have been demonstrating against Sabnani’s ticket and held loud demonstrations at the Bhopal BJP headquarters on Saturday, according to a FirstPost report.
