Bhubaneswar: Dense fog may continue to envelop some places in Odisha for two more days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Tuesday.
Warning has been issued for the districts of Sundargarh, Koraput and Kandhamal.
The weather agency further stated that the minimum temperature is unlikely to witness any large change during the next 6-7 days.
In the last 24 hours, Semiliguda in Koraput was the coldest place in the state at 5.2°C. The other places which recorded temperature below 10°C include Koraput (6.5°C), Daringbadi and Phulbani in Kand
hamal at 7°C each, G Udayagiri, also in Kandhamal, at (7.6°C), Nabarangpur (8.8°C), Angul and Chipilima in Bargarh at 9°C each, Boudh (9.5°C) and Jharsuguda (9.8°C). The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack saw a slight rise in the minimum temperature, recording 14.2°C and 13°C, respectively, compared to 12.6°C each the previous day.
“While the mercury dropped by about 6-7°C from normal at one or two places in South Interior Odisha, 3-4°C at a few places in North Interior Odisha, 2°C at a few places in South Odisha and North Coastal Odisha, 2°C at one or places in North Interior Odisha,” it noted.
According to the IMD, the mercury may hover around 12°C in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack during the next 5-6 days.
Meanwhile, a thick blanket of fog also engulfed Rourkela this morning, reducing visibility to less than 50 metres. Dense fog was also seen in Phulbani and Koraput and moderate fog in Jharsuguda and Bhawanipatna.
