Dense Fog Blankets Coastal Odisha For Second Day; Temp To Rise Further In 24 Hours



Bhubaneswar: Dense fog continued to engulf districts of Odisha for the second consecutive day on Friday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

While a thick blanket of fog reduced visibility to 50-200 metres at Chhatrapur and Paradip, moderate to shallow fog occurred in Kendrapada, Bhubaneswar and Gopalpur.

The national forecaster has warned of similar weather conditions in districts of Kendrapad

a, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha Ganjam and Gajapati till January 31 morning, and Puri, Khurda, Cuttack and Kendrapada during the subsequent 24 hours. It has also forecast a further rise in the night temperature by 2-3°C during the next 24 hours.

According to IMD, the minimum temperature was above normal by about 3-5°C at many places in North Interior
Odisha, at one or two places in North Coastal Odisha and South Interior Odisha, above normal by about 2-3°C at a few places in South Interior Odisha and at one or two places in North Coastal Odisha.

Bhubaneswar has been witnessing a steady rise in the mercury level for past one week. The state capital recorded 17.1°C on January 30 morning compared to 16.8°C on January 29 and 16.6°C on January 28. Cuttack saw the mercury hover at 15.6°C for the second day.
