Bhubaneswar: Amid the rise in night temperature and foggy weather conditions, Koraput was the lone place in Odisha to record below normal temperature in the last 24 hours, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre here informed on Wednesday.
The mercury fell to and below 12 degree Celsius at eight places in the state. Koraput was the coldest at 7.4 degree Celsius followed by G Udayagiri and Daringbani in Kandhamal at 7.8 degree Celsius and 9.5 degree Celsius, respectively, Semiliguda in Koraput at 9.6 degree Celsius, Phulbani also in Kandhamal at 10.5 degree Celsius, Kirei in Sundargarh at 10.7 degree Celsius, Nabarangpur and Bhawanipatna at 11 degree Celsius each and Boudh and Nuapada at 12 degree Celsius each.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 17.2 and 16.5 degree Celsius respectively, which was almost 3 degrees above normal.
Meanwhile, Rourkela and Phulbani experienced dense fog this morning, which reduced visibility to 50 metres. Shallow to moderate fog was also seen at Koraput, Bhawanipatna, Jharsuguda, Paradip and Keonjhar.
The Met office has issued yellow warning of dense fog for one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Cuttack, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput and Rayagada districts till Friday morning.
