Bhubaneswar: Some places in Odisha may continue to experience dense fog till December 19 morning, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
Warning has been issued for the districts of Sundargarh, Sambalpur and Kandhamal. The weather agency further informed that the minimum temperature is unlikely to witness any large change during the next 7 days amid the prevailing dry weather conditions.
The weather agency further stated that the minimum temperature fell appreciably by about 2-3°C at one or t
wo places in North Interior Odisha in the last 24 hours. Similiguda in Koraput district was the coldest place in the state at 5.7°C. The other places, where the mercury hovered around 10°C and below, include Koraput (6°C), G. Udayagiri (6.6°C), Phulbani (7.5°C), Daringbadi (8°C), Boudh (9.4°C), Chiplima in Bargarh district and Nabarangpur at 10⁰°C.
“It was markedly below normal by about 5°C at one or two places in South Interior Odisha and appreciably below normal by about 3-5°C at a few places in North Interior Odisha, while above normal by about 2°C at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha,” it further noted.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 13.6°C and 13.2°C, respectively.
Dense fog also occurred at Rourkela, Phulbani, Paradip and Hirakud this morning, reducing visibility, while moderate fog was witnessed at Koraput, Sonepur, Jharsuguda and Bhawanipatna.
