Bhubaneswar: Winter chill has returned to Odisha with the mercury plummeting below 10 degree Celsius in G Udayagiri in the last 24 hours.
The hill station in Kandhamal district recorded the lowest night temperature of 9.2 degree Celsius followed by 10.2 degree Celsius in Rourkela, 10.4 degree Celsius in Jharsuguda and 10.7 degree Celsius in Kirei in Sundargarh. The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded 13.6 degree Celsius and 15 degree Celsius respectively.
The mercury may fall to 14 degree Celsius in the state capital during the next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department informed on Thursday.
While there will be no large change in the night temperature during the next 4-5, the weather agency has warned of dense fog at one or two places in Sundargarh district till Friday morning. Shallow to moderate fog may also occur at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Koraput, Kandhamal , Sundargarh and Sambalpur.
Jharsuguda, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Koraput, Kandhamal, Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Bargarh may also experience shallow to moderate fog till Sunday morning.
