Bhubaneswar: A dentist looking for an accommodation on rent was allegedly duped of a huge amount of money by a man posing as a broker in Bhubaneswar.
The victim, identified as Jyoti Prakash Sahu, came to Bhubaneswar to work as an Intern at a private hospital after completing his dental studies in Delhi. Sahu, who hails from Jajpur district, was in search of a rented accommodation, police sources said.
After he came across a to-let poster on the roadside, he called up the phone number mentioned in the poster. The man concerned, who identified himself as a real estate broker, met Sahu in Nadan Vihar and asked him to pay two-month advance rent as processing fee for taking possession of the rented accommodation.
Sahu, who filed an FIR at Infocity Police Station alleged that he did pay the two-month rent as processing fee through Phone Pe, as per the instruction of the accused. However, neither could he get possession of the rented house nor was his money returned back. The local police were probing into the incident, the sources added.
