Bhubaneswar: The depression over northwest Bay of Bengal crossed West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha coasts close to Digha between 10:30 am and 11:30 am on Sunday and lay centered about 20 km west of Digha and 70 km east-northeast of Balasore, the India Meteorological Department (IMD)’s regional centre here said in a special bulletin issued at 3 pm.
It is very likely to continue to move west-northwestwards and maintain the intensity of depression during next 24 hours, it said.
Squally surface wind with speeds reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph very likely over north and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal and along and off Odisha coast till August 15, which will gradually decrease thereafter.

Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Boudh, Dhenkanal and Mayurbhanj.
