Bhubaneswar: The well-marked low-pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal and nearby areas concentrated into a depression close to the north Tamil Nadu coast and on Thursday morning and lay centred about 310 km south-east of Chennai.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system is very likely to move west northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts around Chennai by the early hours of November 19.

A release from SOA’s Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) said that moderate rainfall may occur at a few places in south Odisha districts from Wednesday and continue till Saturday. Coastal Odisha may experience light rain during this period, it said.
The sky will remain overcast from November 21 till 24 with isolated places experiencing light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning. Clear sky condition may gradually prevail from November 24 with a fall in night temperature from November 25, it added.
