Depression In Bay To Trigger Heavy Rain In Odisha For Next 4 Days

Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall with the low-pressure formed over the north-east Bay of Bengal on Sunday morning likely to concentrate into a depression in the next 48 hours, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its mid-day bulletin.

In view of the expected weather conditions, the IMD has issued Red, Orange and Yellow warnings for these districts in Odisha for four days up to July 3:

June 30
Orange warning (heavy to very heavy rainfall)

One or two places in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Kendrapada, Cuttack and Mayurbhanj.

Yellow warning (heavy rainfall)

One or two places in Balasore, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur.

July 1
Red warning (extremely heavy rainfall)
One or two places in Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Angul, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Dhenkanal.

Orange warning (heavy to very heavy rainfall)
One or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur.

July 2 and 3
Yellow warning (heavy rainfall)
One or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir and Sambalpur.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture along and off the Odisha coast and north Bay of Bengal between June 30 and July 2 as squally weather with gusty wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph likely to prevail over north Bay of Bengal and adjoining west central Bay making the sea condition very rough.
